2012 Ram 2500 Build: From the Bayou to the Mountains

I doubt many people get a new truck a month before moving & decide to do mods during the chaos, but I'm just crazy enough to try!

I picked up a 2012 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 about a week ago. I couldn't be more excited. This makes my old H2 seem tiny!!!!!!

So here's the stock truck:

My first mod was install whatever shipped first (I have a few things on order). Autoanything shipped my Bak Roll-X cover to me free from Cali in 1 week, but the weather stripping that goes along the back of the bed was too short. More waiting...

Quote of the day: If I didn't has disappointment, I won't have any appointment at all!

More pictures to come as new things come in!

Any and all comments/ideas are welcome!

Truck looks great! Ill be following to see how it turns out. What ideas do you have for it??

Synthetickiller 10-22-2012 04:44 PM

Running board, new tires, new rims (That'll be after the move), ezdown tailgate, Bak Roll-X.

Once I get the truck broken in, I think I'll look into chips or a programmer.

I might do suspension mods as well. I just want a smoother ride because I don't tow. I'll wait to see how the tires turn out first & go from there.

The 1500 drove like a car, honestly. I didn't like the steering. I actually drive my mother all over the place & because of her cervical disc injuries in her neck, the 2500 drives more like a truck. I also feel safer in a 3/4 ton. As well, I didn't want to sacrifice back seat room for a 6'4" bed. This way, I have the best of both worlds! It's also just fun to be taller / bigger than all of the 1500s that pull up next to me at a light.

I'll have to see. I have some other ideas, but it depends if I keep the paint. I'm loving the mineral grey, but you never know!

I used to want to drop in a double din linux / windows box in my H2 when I owned that, but never did. I really like uconnect & how dodge, as a whole, has set up the "entertainment center" in this truck. So much so, that I don't really even want to change it! I think it works damn well so far!

I might have some suspension changes in the future. I'll have to learn a lot more about it before actually having anything done though.

I guess I'll lurk the forums a lot & if I see something I like, I might just add it to my own truck!

lots of guys here with lots of knowledge on lifts, lighting and such things of these natures, i can think of a few member off the top of my head that have been very helpful in my mod quest, fastNugly, double0ram, asur, arth and many many others, i also have some knowledge also so any questions just ask ill be more than happy to help if i can or try to point you to someone who can. and there are many good write ups and how tos in the knowledge base and also check the respective mod zone section for good write ups on just about everything, my person favorite mod so far believe it or not has been the seatbelt chime disable, however the most fun i have had with a mod was painting the tailpipes, baking the headlights, and painting my calipers.

cant wait to see what you work up and again nice truck :)

Well, autoanything said my running boards are back ordered & won't ship out till the 16th of Nov. Well, I'll have moved, so I'll either get different steps or go through another vendor. This is the 2nd screw up on my 1st order with them.

I'll have to call and cancel my order. I can't wait that long.

Nice looking truck
It sucks you are experiencing issues with AutoAnything as I have experienced nothing but good things.

Looking forward to seeing your truck come together
