Trans slipping behind a 318 / need years....

I have a 318 and the tranny is slipping between 1st n 2nd...

What years are interchangeable for a 2001 :thk:

And what kind / call ( like as in a model for that year ) it other than OD transmission

Should be a 46RE. Call a dealer and give them your VIN and they can tell you for sure.

The 46 went "RE" in 1996. Any 1996 or newer 46RE will swap.

and what does the 46RE mean or define....????

Gen1dak 10-24-2012 11:48 PM

The number refers to the torque rating. Essentially 42,44= low, 45= medium, 46=high, 48=OMG!
The "R" stands for rear wheel drive. The "E" means electronic valve body, as opposed to the earlier 46RH which had a hydraulic valve body.
