1998 Ram 1500 DIY CAI!!!!!

So, I'm new here and been reading alot of post for the 1500. So far I have done the TB mod and today finally put on my Durango air scoop and made it into a CAI. Next I will have the stock ECU flashed and go from there. I must say that the Durango setup looks alot nicer and cleaner and not so full under the hood. VERY NICE SITE with alot of useful info!!!

Do you have a picture?

This is what i did and the throttle response change was noticeable.

I did the same thing except I used the air intake tube from the Durango and ran it from the round intake and then put the filter on the end of the tube, but I turned the tube toward the front of the truck to the side of the grill. I like your setup though. There shouldn't be any turbulencve in the air going into the TB the way you did yours. NICE!!!!

It was a pain to get it in there... there was a good reason the factory did it different on the truck.

I had the stock air breather set-up with a K&N filter but did feel any difference. The change to this most changed throttle response. I figured with winter coming here it wouldn't mind sucking up some warmer air.

In the summer i would like to run a tube to the front. But... with more air, you need more fuel.

Right now I average about 17 mpg with the 5.2. Before I changed the cat I was only getting 14 mpg. The cat clogged and after the replacement the truck woke up.
