milky stuff in filler
2004 4.7
changed the oil when i took the oil cap off to put in fresh oil in i noticed a milky stuff in the neck took a second look at the old oil . old oil was not milky
any ideas?

I believe that is just a bit of condensation
i don't believe it is anything to worry about

clean off the cap, wipe off what you can of the milky stuff
& just keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse or stays milky in the same area

Confirmed. It's just condensation and nothing to fret over.

I about had a heart attack when I went to do the first oil change on a truck I bought off craigslinst and the whole underside of the lid and the filler tube was completely gunked off with a yellow milky substance. But yes, its just gunky water that got sucked to the top of the system

I had the same problem and thought it was condensation. ITS NOT TO BE IGNORED!! Im now in the middle of pulling apart the engine because of sludge, possibly caused by a bad pcv valve that cracked and let in air/water. The sludge is almost play-doh consistency. It got so hot from lack of lubrication that one of the bearing caps cracked. I am a former dodge dealer mechanic, and baby my vehicles (maint and dont drive like crazy). I am from FL, but Im stationed in MD and thought it was just because of cold weather. Boy was I wrong!

I know its a lil bit of a pain, but pull off the passenger side valve cover and actually inspect for milky/ sludge in there. It'll def be worth it to find it now.
