Oddball intake question

On the factory airbox there's a spot to plug in the hard plastic line from the driverside valvecover. I see it on the S&B intake too....but WTF is it there for? If it's just another spot for crankcase vapors to enter the intake tract I'm gonna block it off at the valvecover. If it serves a greater purpose I'll do something else...but that plastic line is definitely in the way of another project. So...what's it there for?

It's the fresh air intake for the pcv valve. You can take it off and just put a small air filter on it if its in your way.

Perfect...thanks.

Yeah normally one valve cover sucks in fresh filtered air from the intake tube and then the pcv is located on the opposite valve cover to vent. So the crankcase sucks air in on one valve cover(filtered) and vents it on the other valve cover(pcv).

I would suggest at least trying to find a way around a small filter, just because the small filters are very restrictive and typically go without maintenance or forgotten and that causes excessive crankcase pressure.

Sounds like the hemi is backwards to the 4.7L. On my 4.7L the clean air enters on the passenger side and the pcv is on the driver side.

Rerouting it to the airbox is no problem....capping it off wouldda just been easier.
