Inside the 2013 Ram headlights!

I sold my first set of 2013 headlights off to JJ at the Retroshop and he baked them open! Here is the link to the forum he posted his tear down on.

Nice post, thanks. I didn't read through all of the info on the link below yet, but curious if is there a good plug and play HID after market kit that works with the stock housing (i.e. using the factory ballasts vs an aftermarket ballast)? I know the concern with putting HIDs in some of the cheap aftermarket housings is the heat they generate. Just curious if the factory RAM projector housings are sufficient....looks like they might be from the pics.

From what I've been told an HID bulb actually generates less heat than a Halogen bulb...don't ask me how it's just what I was told.

I am waiting to get an output shot of an HID bulb in this housing with the factory projector as well. I agree it looks like the housing should be able to handle the HID bulb but I am not going to blow $50 to find out just yet.

So far I don't mind using factory bulbs.

Also this headlight does not come with factory HID's. It is a Bi-Halogen projector.

Ram725 11-26-2012 08:18 PM

Are the 2013s a plug and play?

Arth 11-26-2012 08:25 PM

Yes I am running the chrome one's now. To answer one of your earlier questions yes I can heard the click when I flip the highs on. Down to just two pins we are unsure do what..

Better shots of them on the truck:

No they are not plug and play. Currently I have six wires wrapped up and plugged into the back of the housing with connectors.
