MOOG Control Arm ?
I posted a video in another thread about a clunking I am experiencing in my front end. I jacked my truck up today and tried to shake the tire at 9 and 3 to test the control arm. I did not experience the same noise, but I did notice that the boot surrounding the upper ball joint was torn away. So I am starting with the replacement of both upper control arms. I have a question about the Moog Upper Arm. Everyone suggests part number K7424, but when I looked at they have a Moog RK7424 listed for my truck. I cant find any site that lists the difference, not even on the Moog site. Advance Auto Parts has both parts at difference prices also. Can anyone help me? Has anyone used RK7424? Thanks for any feedack!

I went to MOOG's site and they only list K7424 your vehicle. I tried to lookup RK7424 and nothing comes up. It must be something that Auto Zone added to part numbers.

I don't have any experience with these parts but I have been looking at them recently because I intend to replace my upper and lower ball joints soon as well. I too have found K7424 listed as the Moog upper. However, I did a quick search and found this article that I believe explains it.

Basically, it sounds like the "R series" is Moog's cheaper line. I guess they got tired of losing sales to the Advance Auto and Autozone brands and wanted to get in on the cheaper end of things. My thoughts are that I want to buy Moog for the quality to begin with so I'm going to stick with the original Moog parts line. To each his own though. FYI, the cheapest place I have found parts are on Amazon. They have the K7424 for $63 and the RK7424 for $47. Also, if you sign up for Amazon Prime you can get free two-day shipping on all Amazon purchases for a month I believe it is. If you don't have a need for the Prime service, you can easily cancel it within the trial period. It's free to sign up and free if you cancel within the allotted trial. Hope this helps!

Thanks starquest. I finally got someone to call me back from MOOG. They said the same thing. The R-series is there "economy line". I think I will stick with the original also. eBay has them for the same price but free shipping. Amazon prime sounds like a winner though.
