2004 Drop Shackles

I have read, and re-read nearly every post on here about drop shackles on the 3rd gen. I wanted to know from your personal experience, what shackles provided what drop. I know some say 2" and give you 1", some say 1.5" and guys have said it gave 2.5" and so on. Could you guys post what brand shackles you have used and what the ACTUAL drop you recieved was after driving and settling. Thanks!!!

I'm actually about to put some McGaughys 2" shackles on my 2007 later today. I'll take measurements and let you know how much drop there is right after I do it and also after it settles (I've got a 160 mile drive tomorrow so that should give them plenty of time) I also plan on taking the overload springs out because I've heard thats the best way to get the closest to level.

I'll keep you updated.

Alright, update time!

I put the shackles on yesterday. I ended up leaving the overload springs on because I was in a bit of a time crunch and didn't have time to mess with them. But I did put the McGaughy's 2" lowering shackles on.

Right after I did it it didn't drop much (hopefully this isn't when people are measuring) but after jumping up and down on my bumper and a 160 mile highway trip last night it has settled and is pretty much right at 2" of actual drop. :-) so I'm happy.

my rear fender measured at just over 38 1/4" and after it settled it was at 36 1/2"... so maybe an 1/8" or 1/16" inch difference but pretty close to 2"

Hopefully this helps. The truck looks much better now :-) I'll post some pictures soon.

Very sweet. had S1S lowering shackles w/ overloads removed and was shy level with the front. rolling in and out of the bed was so much easier.

How did you remove the overloads? I messed with mine for a second but gave up after I tried to remove the bolt but instead of the nut loosening the whole bolt just twisted and it's rounded on the other end so a wrench wont hold it... :-/

McGaughy's, I got about 1.5" with it.
