315/70/17 fit with 2" level?

I am probably going to swap my stock 20" alloys and tires and go down to a 17" wheel and tire combo seeing as i can do this for close to same price as just replacing the 20" tires to a bigger size. Also i think it would look better,a 315/70/17 tire compared to a 295/65/20. Down the road also the tires would be cheaper which is another bonus and hopefully i can sell my set for at least a grand as they only have about 11000 kms on them.So my question is,will these tires fit on a rim with 0 offset or would i need at least a -6 offset? Can the tpms from the 20" rims be used in the 17" rims as that would save some coin also. So will this combo fit on my 2012 with a 2"HBS level no problem or will there be some rubbage on the inner fender plastic? Any pix of your truck with this combo would be greatly appreciated, thx.

Put a leveling kit on mine and i fit 35x12.50x20 with room for more. Not sure if that helps any. Good luck.

good information to know .

the larger the wheel size the higher the cost of the tire ?? so there is less tire and rubber to make it but it costs more ?

i was thinking of 18's if I go aftermarket but i do like the stock chrome 20's .

Truck looks great! So those tires on there are 315/70/17 ? What lift is on there,a 2.75 Bilstein or the 4"lift in your signature? You also say those rims are 2mm offset,is that +2 or -2,thx.

this pic is just the 2.75" bilstiens, yes its 315's and that is a +2 mm offset...no rub what so ever

Looks great

I have 315/70/17's on my truck currently with stock "offroad" rims +19, I had to use a 1/4 spacer for it to not rub. So a rim with close to 0 offset or - offset will be good.

Thx for the replies guys,so can the tpms be re-used from the 20" rims to the 17" rims?

newfiebullet 01-25-2013 06:03 PM

no sure but almost any brand tpms will work with the ram

I know this is an older thread but did you end up going with the 315/70/17’s? I’m looking to do the same thing this spring. Installing a leveling kit and dropping my stock 20’s for a set of 17” Dick Cepek DC2’s with a -13 offset wrapped in 315/70/17 BFG Allterrains… Just curious if it worked out for you.
