wont crank on first try
Bought a 98 ram. 84k original miles. Its an awesome toy. Only issue is it wont crank up on its first try. It takes 2-3 trys before it'll turn over. I put new plugs/wires/battery/alt/air filter/ ran gas treatment... basically a full tune up. And its still having this issue? Any ideas?

Won't crank or cranks but won't start?

I would hook up a fuel pressure gauge, turn the key to the run position but do not crank the engine. If you have less than about 50 psi of fuel pressure, then chances are that the check valve in the pump unit is bad and fuel is draining back into the tank when the pump stops running. The pump unit will need to be replaced to maintain volume in the lines.

If on first try you mean it does not roll the engine over it could be the contacts inside the starter solinoid. $20 and a little labour and it would be back to like new. Very common problem on Ma's starters. This applies to old full size and the newer style mini starters.

now it wont fully crank.. i can get it to turn over if i keep giving it gas. But asoon as i stop giving it gas it just dies.
