E-Brake cable hanging loose

Yesterday, my buddy was parked beside me as we were about to leave. I went to release my e-brake and be suddenly yelled for me to stop. When I released my e-brake, he instantly seen a cable hang down under the truck.

It's definitely the e-brake cable, it doesn't retract in, when you apply the e brake it's fine and has tension. When released it hangs down pretty low with a ton of slack

Been a ton of salt on the roads, could that be causing something to seize and not allow the cable to retract?

I still have bumper to bumper and was going to take it in to get checked out. The e-brake still works fine, just concerned its not properly releasing

Had the same issue last year turned out to be broken e brake levers. Ended up replacing e brake shoes, rear rotors, and the levers under warranty. Pads were not covered but were fine anyways. They told me they were worn out, I have since put 30,000 kms on them and they still aren't worn out. Another dealer money grab so beware!

Awesome, thank you! Goes in pretty soon to get looked at. I had an inspection done not long ago and they said my brakes had a ton of life left so I'm not too worried about that part

So you're saying it's the lever I'd press with my foot to engage the e-brake went bad? My cable is drooping low 4" below the frame. The dealership said it was normal. BS
