Headlights went out yesterday.Replaced 40amp fuse under hood.Blows another one,was told it was headlight switch, replaced switch still blowing fuse! Help!!!
You've done the easy stuff, now it's gonna be a matter of tracing out the wiring and figuring out where the short it.
You can start a either end... you'll need an ohm meter and a lot of patience. You'll need to unplug your head light bulbs, also unplug it from the head light switch, then do a continuity check from one end to ground... working your way back... This is where a wiring diagram will be helpful.
You can also do a visual inspection of the wires and look for the obvious.
There isn't an easy way to do this... you'll pretty much have to check everything and eliminate things as you rule them out.
did you inspect the plug and wiring at the headlight switch? pretty much every truck pre headlight relays usually eventually have a problem with the headlight switch or wiring to it.
