Truck of the year

March / April TruckTrend report on the competitors for truck of the year was a very interesting read. The last column of the article shows the attained testing numbers for the Ecoboost (V8 alternative as stated by TT) and the Hemi.

0-60mph, unladen, the Ecoboost edged out the Ram. Acceleration with a trailer 0-60mph, Ecoboost 15.7s, Ram 15 flat. In the 1/4 mile Ecoboost 20.5s @ 67.5mph and the Ram 20.0s @ 69.4mph.

Subjective? Maybe. Take heart in knowing that even though there will always be bow tie and blue oval pilots sporting Calvins in their rear windows, survey says...our trucks are the equal of or better than the competition nowadays.

IIRC, the Ford was towing about 1000 lbs more. Each were towing 75% of their max.

"The F-150 was rated to tow 11,300 pounds as tested, so we hooked a trailer weighing 8475 pounds (including ballast) to the rear bumper...Ram Truck hasn't announced official tow ratings for the V-8 Ram with the eight-speed automatic, but gave us an estimate of 10,000 pounds, so that trailer weighed 7500."
