Is that a belt chirping during shift at WOT?? (with race story...kinda)

So yesterday I turned right at a stop light headed out of town. As I was turning I noticed a modified Hyundai Genesis coupe to my left. Well, after I had turned, the Hyundai got the green and launched like a bat out of hell. I could see him in my mirror gaining rapidly in the right lane (with me being in the left). Just for kicks I stomped it and while I put up a mighty fight, he managed to get past me anyway. Ehhh, no hurt feelings there. He's in a two door sports coupe and I'm in a ten year old quad cab 4x4. Plus, he had the acceleration jump on me, lol.

Anyway, I very rarely run my truck that hard and I noticed something that has me puzzled. I was at WOT so obviously the truck tached to redline before shifting. When the shift occurred, I heard a very brief but distinct squeal or chirp or whatever you want to call it from the engine. It sounded like a belt squealing. I have heard this exact same noise from the old Crown Vic patrol cars that I used to drive whenever I had it matted to the floor and it shifted at high RPM.

I'm sure someone here knows what I am talking about and can explain this to me. Is it the drive belt chirping because the engine RPM drops so rapidly and causes it to briefly slip? That's the only thing I can come up with. The belt looks to be in good shape but would replacing it cure this or is it just a thing that it will do no matter what? Thanks all!

Not sure. Last time I has WOT shifts, the factory exhaust fell off..............still under bumper to bumper warranty...

I did some good ol' Google research and I am certain that what I heard is the serpentine belt chirping. Apparently I was correct. The engine goes from 5500 rpm to half that almost instantly and of course, all of the accessories that the belt turns have to slow as well. Makes perfect sense. Most have recommended a high quality serpentine belt such as a Goodyear Gatorback. I will probably throw one of those one whenever it needs one but until then I'm not extremely worried about it as my truck doesn't see too many WOT moments.

It is the belt. My truck always did that until about a month ago. When I changed out my pulley to an underdrive I also changed the belt. Ever since then, no more squeal at the wot shift.
