Mobile One Oil

Can I use Mobile 1 5-30 in my 13? Thanks, Sean

This is directly from Chryslers service information regarding oil in the Hemi.

For 5.7L engines SAE 5W-20 engine oil is recommended for all operating temperatures. These engine oils improve low temperature starting and vehicle fuel economy. Refer to your engine oil filler cap for the recommended engine oil viscosity for your vehicle. Vehicles with 5.7L engines equipped with Multiple Displacement System (MDS) must use SAE 5W-20 oil. Failure to do so may result in improper operation of the Multiple Displacement System (MDS). Refer to Multi Displacement System under Starting and Operating for details.

Just a heads up. Mobil 1 5W-20 is presently not Chrysler MS-6395 spec approved

That being said, here's Chryslers take on Mobil 1 in the SRT 8. Below that is the double talk that makes this issue so confusing.

NOTE:For 6.1L only Use API rated SL/CF full synthetic engine oil, such as Mobil 1® is recommended. Use the correct SAE grade meeting Chrysler Material Standard MS-10725.

Chrysler only recommend API Certified engine oils that meet the requirements of Material Standard MS-6395. Use Mopar® or an equivalent oil meeting the specification MS-6395.

But they are testing it, so that's good :)

Actually, Mobil Super meets the criteria

If someone brought in a vehicle that had the MS-6395 requirement and there was an engine failure, I guarantee I wouldn't void the warranty for using Mobil 1. Chances are other dealers wouldn't either, mainly because this requirement isn't enforced. As long as you can prove regular oil changes meeting Chryslers service intervals, you should be just fine.

I think you're right!

I will stick with recommended oil vis. but would like to use Synthetic. Thanks for the info, Sean

We had our dealer use Mobil 1 5-20 at the first oil change and they had no problem with it. I've always used Mobil 1 in every vehicle I've owned.
