Who's gonna buy the 3.0l 1500?

I see they released the info on the half ton diesel for 2014. I was reading up on it a bit and it doesn't seem to be all that bad. To early to tell but if the mpg ratings and power ratings are decent I would consider buying one.

Anyone else have any thought on this?

I have been waiting for this truck to come out before i buy another one. a 1500 with a diesel.... think about what it could do after mods this truck is gonna be sweet. although im sure they will be pretty expensive.

If I hadn't already ordered a 2013 3500 w/Cummins, I would have probably bought it.

I know I couldn't pull the 5th wheel trailer I'm planning on getting in a couple years, but for what the 3500 is going to cost me, I could have bought the 1500 w/ diesel and a boat to go fishing in instead to use next summer!

Oh well, I'm probably better off with the 3500 and 5th wheel, for camping... Over the years, I've found camping is much cheaper then boating/fishing... My last boat held almost 300 gallons of gas and would drain my wallet, every time I took it out!

I saw that today and I'm really excited to see what it's like. Its the 3.0l diesel that they put in the Jeep Grand Cherokee with a turbo, 250 Hp and 450ft lbs of torque. Its no 310 hp 4.7l or 390 hp hemi but with mods it could be a beast. Its funny because I saw the engine at the Detroit auto show and said "they should put that in the Ram"

If I wasn't set on my next truck being a mega cab, then I would be very interested in this.
Wonder how much extra this engine will cost, I'm hoping nowhere near the 8k like the cummins.

I'll be interested depending on mileage numbers. They only brag about 2wd reg cab numbers when it comes to mileage. I need a 4wd crew cab truck with true 22+ mpg city / 28+ mpg hwy would be fantastic.
Mine will be 2 years old by the time its out so we'll see where I'm at financially by then. Until then I love everything about my Ram except the mileage, lol. I was hoping it would be out by 2012 when I bought mine as I first heard about it in 2010 but couldn't wait forever, my 370,000 km Yukon was getting repair happy!

For some folks, it will be worth the premium price, for others, perhaps not. I believe pricing will be key to it's success.

I have not independently verified the pricing of this mill in the JGC, but some have said both the Hemi and the 3.0 were the 'same upgrade price', which sounds pretty bizzarre as I believe the Hemi costs less to build than a Pentastar,,,

It only sounds bizzarre until you realize nothing is priced at what it costs to produce, yet all are priced at what the market will bear.

In my situation, desiring fuel economy, but with no honest ~need~ for every ounce of power available, my pocketbook would probably 'get nervous' around the 2-3000 dollar premium mark. 4-5000? Not for me,,,,

Still, KUDOS to RAM for bringing it to the marketplace!!!

I'm very interested waiting now for a crew cab 6.4 box now if it does not not need any of the DEF or other emission cra. The mileage looks good from the motor from overseas in the jeep.

then again just looked up what Gale Banks has done to the engine 600hp
