How do I get rid of this nasty antenna? 2012 ram express
Any way I can get rid of this nasty stock antenna? Is there an easy slim antenna or something I can attach instead?

If you don't need the AM/FM antenna on your right fender
you can get a shorty antenna, they still work but not as good as the longer ones

Here is a post about the antenna

There are a whack of options for getting rid of the stock antenna.
This thread has the install on my old 11 and that same antenna is now installed on my 13. The only kicker is that this antenna doesn't actually fit the ram. I had to use the adapter off my old sickspeed carbon fibre stubby.

Or you can get a hidden antenna and just shave the hole, but that involves body work which most people won't want to do, but it sure does smooth out the front end of the truck.

I pulled the ball off of mine, cut it down to desired height and painted in black. The spiral around it keeps from having wind noise so I wanted to keep that part. Never found a shorty with the spirals. The shorter you go the less reception you will get.

Does anyone have a how to guide, or step by step pictures by any chance?

I just took mine off and hit it with some Plastidip. I still hit the occasional branch, but its less chrome on the truck.

I just put the antenna in a vise, pulled the ball off with channel locks, I cut mine down so that its level with the windshield, put the ball back on with a little tap from a hammer(you might need to bore it out a little but I didn't need to, you could use an appropriate size drill bit), scuff it up a little with some steel wool, clean it with alcohol or degreaser than spray with the color or finish of your choice. I used a gloss black with primer in it but plasti dip would work great too, maybe even a little better. Sorry I don't have pics I'm at work right now.

Dauer53, thanks for the explanation. Obviously this won't effect my satellite radio?

Nope, that's a different antenna. I forgot to mention it takes a little force to get the ball so don't be bashful with it.
