first exterior mod: mounted a truck box...
bought a truck box from Tractor Supply yesterday... right now they are running a sale on this particular box (has to be black and this depth) it was on sale for 249 which i didn't think was too bad... when i first mounted the box with the "J" hook bolts they provided, when tightening, they had a tendency to want to lean to the outside of the box... for some reason it just wasn't working so i had to pick up a new set of "J" bolts from Lowes... the new ones had a different curve on them and proved to be perfect... once tightened, they were still standing straight up... i also installed better (thicker, heavier duty) rubber dampeners under the box where it meets the bed... also bought from T.S. they are actually suppose to be foot grips for drop down trailer ramps but were just about the perfect length and width and worked out great... the flimsy 1/8th inch thick foam strips the factory included just wasn't going to cut it... all in all i am very happy with the way everything turned out... the black matches pretty well... good enough for me anyways... about the only other modification i might make is to remove the Tractor Supply emblem from the box... it's just held on with those push-in "pine tree" type fasteners... just remove the emblem and push in two new circular shaped low profile pine tree fasteners in it's place so water doesn't get in... :4-dontknow:
i wanted to add that the sale price was good to April if anybody was thinking about getting a black truck box for their crew cab...
Looks good. I have low profile box too, by UWS. Comes in handy ... nice addition !
