tips for washing

any tips would be greatly appreciated,

is it better to wash by hand or take it to a car wash?

if by hand what types of clothe or wax should be used ?

and what about taking it to be detailed? any thing i should watch out that may ruin my paint or rims? i have the brightwhite paint and 17" rims

Car detailing could be a forum all on it's own- lots of right ways to do things.
If you search car detailing you will find lots of places that sell quality wash, wax, dry, products. Griots for example- there are dozens and dozens to choose from.

Here's what you'll learn right away- microfiber clothes to wash and dry, 2 bucket method, (google it) and never take your car to a detailer to get the exterior cleaned- inside okay- paint NEVER!!! especially if you have a black or dark colored truck.

All it takes is one kid making $10/hr with a microfiber cloth with a small bit of grit embedded in the fibers washing and drying your truck.
He's been washing cars all day with the same cloth --he's been ruining paint jobs all day. The boss notices the swirls marks- has the kid shoot the paint with a quick auto detailer spray wax and the swirls disappear for about three or four days.

Wash it yourself or take it to a true touch less auto wash - wax it one or twice a year and your paint will look new for years and years and years.
Or course.... others will have differing opinions.

If you really care about your paint then wash it by hand using a 2 bucket wash technique and don't use pressure washers on it. If you want to spend some time watching very instructional videos about detailing and keeping your paint in great shape check out YouTube and look for Junkman2000, he has the best videos for every level of enthusiast.

You also want to clay bar the vehicle a few times a year to take out crap that's been imbedded into the clearcoat.

That's nothing. Check out auto geek . net or autopia . com. The forum sections cover any and every aspect of detailing.

haha...love junkmans videos....and here is another internet car wash expert...

honestly, this gy is a bit annoying and thinks he invented this wash style, but in all reality it is a very good wash regime...and dont get fooled by his product line...any good wash like Optimum No Rinse, Duragloss or Ultima works great.
