How difficult to replace bed?
I have a 96 Ram 1500 Extended Cab farm truck that has been beat to heck and runs better than any of my other 5 vehicles. Both sides of the bed are bent up pretty badly along with the tail gate. I'm considering replacing the bed/tailgate with another from a junkyard, provided I can locate one. How difficult is this, and can someone provide me with some 'how to' details?
I took the bed off my 98 f150 and it was very easy. just need two people to lift. Take the tailgate off and Just get under the truck and it's a few bolts, i think my bed had 6. One of the nuts rounded off so we had to weld another one onto it so we could keep it from spinning.
Now that was one my ford, I can't imagine it being much different for any other truck.
Yep, easy! Remove the tail lights/wires. Unscrew the three screws holding the fuel filler spout, then remove the bed/frame mount bolts underneath. Have a friend give you a hand and its easy street.
