Is this the real deal?
Seen this truck for sale and was wondering if its the genuine thing. Its 5 hours from me so I need to know if its worth going to see.

I thought Ram SSTs only came in 4 colours but the owner insists its genuine.

I`ve sold my 2003 Rumble Bee and considering this as a new toy.

Any input appreciated.

Here`s the link.

Honestly wish I could answer that.. but no clue.
but seeing as I have never been on ebay looking for vehicles in the U.K.. decided to do a small tour... if that truck fails.. found you a cummins.

bigkeeko 03-08-2013 07:26 AM

Thanks but the cummins aint for me. The SS/T (or whatever it is) appeals to me. I already have a diesel daily

ohh.... hmm the buyer says that it is manual, but I dont see any stick in the cab?
Also it looks like it says Laramie SLT on the decal beside the door.. I looked at some 97 SS/T's seeing I could find anything on 99's.. and none appeared to have that sticker....

tat2dwiseguy 03-08-2013 07:44 AM

They only made the SS/T through 98. They didn't come in blue and they didn't come with leather. As stated above, the SLT badge is a dead giveaway. This is a stickered up SLT. Also notable is that it has the standard 1500 badging on the doors, not the SS/T decals.

Canadian Hemi Pride 03-08-2013 07:50 AM

and there is your answer above.. I can't say I remember the last time I saw an ss/t so I was relying off google there.

bigkeeko 03-08-2013 08:02 AM

Much appreciated gentlemen.

Good info there. I noticed the SLT badge but wasn`t sure.

Thanks again.

Still, its a nice truck and if I call him on it the price might be much better. Bear in mind I`m in Scotland so trucks like these regardless of trim level are rare as rocking horse $hit. But the fact he`s lied kinda puts me off.

Ha ha ha ha "rare as rocking horse shit" that hilarious, never heard that one before,

The Ram SS/T evolved from Dodge's success with the special edition Indy Ram, the official truck for the 1996 Indianapolis 500 that was produced in a limited run. "The Ram's design gave us a great opportunity to take the truck in a sportier direction," said Dodge General Manager Ray Fisher. "Its bold, in-your-face design already had a sporty demeanor. So by tuning the 5.9 engine, adding the exhaust modifications and the other exterior changes, we created a unique street version of our very successful Ram." "We produced a limited amount of the Indy Rams to support our role as Official Pace Car with the 1996 Viper GTS," Fisher said. "When demand far outweighed supply for the truck, we realized we had a hit on our hands. And when we looked into it further, we found out the appeal wasn't just in the tie-in to the race, but in the inherent performance characteristics of the truck." The Dodge Ram SS/T (Super Sport Truck) was introduced in 1997 and produced thru 1998.

special edition probable information

Indy Ram/ Ram SS/T info

Okay we need info on here and I figured I would start with what I have found about the truck I am gonna buy when I get back from deployment. It's a 98 Ram SS/T black with the silver stripes. I had heard they were a limited production truck and looked everywhere with no definitive information about them. So I went to looking through Google and here is what I came up with for the production numbers and breakdown by year and color.

DODGE RAM SS/T (6,278)

1997 Dodge Ram SS/T – 3,711

1998 Dodge Ram SS/T – 2,567

Dodge Ram SS/T Production Numbers

While I can't guarantee these to be true facts they are the ONLY ones that I have been able to come up with. More info to follow.
