Detailed my buddy's 3rd gen cummins 2500 this weekend...

Start to finish was 16 hours, I charged $25 an hour (discounted rate). He wanted full paint correction after 10 years of riding trails. Nice enough truck but I cant get over how nasty the interior's are build quality wise on the 3rd gen's.

The process was as follows:

Pre-soak and wash
Bug and tar remover
Clay
Machine Polish with Meguiar's #105 and Meguiar's #205
Meguiar's #7 Glaze
Meguiar's #20 Polymer Sealant
Meguiar's #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Carnuba Wax

Among other things, I used Simple Green Max on the engine bay, Along with Aerospace 303 on the plastic and rubber engine components, 303 on the interior and dash, 303 on the wheel wells and exterior plastic trim. Here are the pix!

This is my favorite go-to for cleaning Wheel Wells, Tires, engine bays and chassis':

I get it for $1 a bottle and its hands down the best cleaner I have found. I get it at dollar tree.

Nice job, I dont have the patience to do mine. In 10 years you will be saying the same about the 4th gen rams interior, things only get better, imagine what people thought when the 3rd gen was released and people upgraded from 2nd gens.

I honestly wont. I LOVE my Ram's interior and I will have my 4th gen in 10 years. Its my favorite part about it. In my opinion, the interior materials and build quality from 2002-2008 on the ram were the worst out of all of them. I prefer the gen 2 to the gen 3. Just my opinion though. If you compare the ram to a ford or chevy of that era, they are all put together about the same way...badly.

That said, the exteriors were awesome. :) I have the patience, but the $400 i got for the job helped with the motivation to do my buddy's.

my truck desperately needs a clean up like this. So many fine scratches ALL OVER from off roading. It makes me sick haha. I tend to leave it dirty to hide all the imperfections.

And after moving from a 1998 f150, i love my 3rd gen interior

It's good to see that your buddy finally got the beast cleaned up. What's even better is that you benefited from it, even if it was a hell of a lot of work.

Excellent job

Exco
