Magnaflow or Solo Performance?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to upgrade my exhaust system via replacing the muffler as I already have factory duals. I like the Magnaflow 18" but I am also considering The Solo Performance Mach 44 or 40. Does anybody know how they compaire to the Magnaflow? And whats the sound difference between the Mach 44 and 40? Thanks

I tell you, I have the 14" magnaflow muffler installed by my local shop and I freakin love it. I get compliments all the time on how it sounds, and have had several Hemi guys ask me what I did. check out this link: http://www.bsmexhaustworks.net/perfo...geram1500.html

I wish I would have seen this first, just do it at home, cheaper than even my exhaust shop could do, and it aligns up perfectly. Really anything else is just a waste of money. The stock piping is mendral bent from the factory and is stainless steel. I had to play around with my pipes for hours after they cut out the factory muffler and welded in my Magnaflow. It looks great from out back, but if under my truck, my shop guy accidently isntalled it a little crooked. No one can notice unless under the truck and looking at it, but I am so anal that it bothers me to this day.

I don't personally know about the exhaust you are asking about, but I have heard many systems on this truck and I think the Magnaflows sound the best, plus I have no resinance like others have complained about. I love the sound the 14" makes while cruising down the street, but when the windows are closed I can't hear anything unless flooring it.

p.s. the shorter the magnaflow the louder. The 14" is the shortest, and sometimes I want it a bit louder!

Thanks for the reply, I am leaning towards the Magnaflow, they do give a nice crisp sound. When doing some research on the forum I came across the Solo Mach 44 and wanted to know how they compared.

they should be close to each other since they are both straight thru designs (almost identical)...the mach 44 (5 x 11 x 22) is close to what i have in the magnaflow because it is 22" long so it should sound muscular but not too loud which is especially good incab... the mach 40 (4 x 9 x 14) compares to the 14" magnaflow with the shorter and smaller body..which is much louder so it's all about your personal preference...

hodgee get cutouts so that you could have options on how loud you want with the flip of a switch :)

I'm sure the Solo is a nice piece. Both will be equal in performance, and produce improved sound. However, the Solo kit is even more over-priced than a Mufflex kit. In that case, I'd pick the cheapest (weld-in Magnaflow).

that sounds so freakin cool with the cutouts. I think I am sold. Do you have to run two of them before the y, or just one before the muffler after the Y-pipe!?!?!?!?

Thanks for all the help, i didnt realise the Solo and Magnaflow were similar. I'm going to go with the Magnaflow.

Those cutouts sound great!

It all depends on how you decide to have your set up. The closer to the front the cutouts are, the louder they will be. So if you run dual cutouts before your muffler you will be much louder than a single run right after it. Just comes down to how you want to set up your exhaust

either way..it's your choice...but it is easier to install a single right after the Y pipe...do it my friend!!!
