Winch

I want to put a hidden winch behind the front bumper of my 2011 ram 1500. I have tow hooks. I want to know if any one has ever put a bracket in there and mounted a winch to it, or if anyone things this is possible? I'm not looking to pull myself out with it just need it to be functional but hidden.

Pics would be great

Someone else will know for sure but the mount/winch com the powerwagon might be your best bet.

hey i got the same question.... but i have the ram runner front bumper. there is a space where a winch could go... but im thinking there is a lot of custom fab ima have to do... anyone have any idea??

as far as the power wagon.. YES it comes with a bracket and winch perfect for both our applications but... went to my dealership and its 500 dollars for just the bracket... not the mounting hardware... or the winch. sooooo kinda out of the realm of possibility for me

I am going to go with a custom plate across the bottom of the frame where the tow hooks blot on. I think a 6-8'' plate 1/2'' thick across the whole thing will give me a solid base and allow me to flat mount the winch right there, Ill do a custom mount for the fair lead and leave the winch hook on one of my tows. I bought a decent winch this morning and Ill post some pics tonight. I have several to show my point.

You think that'll be strong enough?

A metals guy I know said the 1/2 plate is more then strong enough. The bolts for the tow hooks are cabable of towing the truck so with a winch on a plate there will be more then strong enough

We fabbed up a bumper for my RC to do that very thing.

I think it would be tougher with a factory bumper, as you'd be sacrificing bodywork & radiator space at a minimum, to make it fit.

I agree that is will be difficult but you are thinking to high what I am proposing would be allot lower. I have the plate and am currently getting the whole thing mocked up to drill the wholes. Work is not cooperating someone decided I actually need to be there to get paid, no more afternoons in the shop working on the truck. I should be able to spend a few hours on it this weekend.
