Did you buy an extended warranty?

Just got my 2013 SLT V6 and, with this electrical architecture being all new, am considering an extended warranty. Generally I frown at extended warranties but with all the electrical components in these trucks, a single visit would probably pay for it.

Best I've been able to find on a 7 year, 85000 mile warranty is $1330 (genuine Chrysler). Honestly that seems pretty cheap for the benefit. Covers me for 7 years at 12k miles per year (about my average).

Any thoughts? What did you do?

I bought the LIFETIME MAXIMUM CARE WARRANTY with $100 deductible
anything mechanical is covered

When i go to have warranty work done, i usually wait until i need more then one thing done
The $100 deductible is per Visit, not per thing done

I got one because of all the electronics like the 8.4a and 7"tft in the dash. I can only imagine what it will cost if the 8.4 goes bad. The warranty was a no brainer

when my truck comes in i WILL get the extended warranty. electronics are expensive.i am not a "do it yourselfer". got it with my ford and will get it with the ram. i keep my vehicles for on average 150,000 k's

I opted for the extended warranty since our warranty here in Canada sucks balls compared to the US. Our standard powertrain warranty is 5 years, 100,000 km's (63,000 miles) our bumper to bumper is 3 years, 60,000 km (35,000 miles), so I bumped mine to 5 years bumper to bumper.

Just an FYI: Extended warranties are not "bumper to bumper". It covers only the parts (and labor) listed. If it happens to be a "exclusion" type warranty then it would cover everything except the items that are listed as excluded.

Okay to clarify then, yes, everything included, my extended warranty reads "everything" on the truck minus standard wear items ie: windshield wiper blades, brake pads, tires etc. for a full 5 years.

It's a good plan but if you read the fine print it's all at the dealers discretion and they make the call on if you void ur warrenty or not in the end. I have heard some pretty good stories of guys being screwed out of warrenty because they put headers on and the tranny went

I normally don't buy one but like other poster's have stated, a lot of electronics on these new puppies. I bought a 10 year, 100k mile, bumper to bumper less normal wear and tear items...$2180.00 probably a bit pricey though..

plumcrazy73 03-23-2013 10:59 PM

2180 lifetime, supposed to be 100 dollar deductible, but they messed up and punched in wrong so when I called Chrysler warranties they looked it up ( was wanting to make sure they got it right, ) they said it was 0 dollar deductible. O and everyone, if you did not know the lifetime chrysler warranty include rental up to 5 days per break down. and it cover like 5000 components, if it is electrical or mechanical it is covered minus the normal wear (brakes, tires, etc,) / service parts (lube oil, tune up parts). and body and interior plastics, metal or fabrics.
