Rear end whine?

The whine sounds like it is coming from the right rear wheel. I thought it was the rear end, the a wheel bearing. Problem is, I have NEVER tried to take a rear end down and I don't even know how to do this. What bearing is in there? would it be an axle bearing?:4-dontknow:

This will most likely be a pinion or differential side bearing problem. If you haven't torn down a rear end before, you should either have it done or at least make sure you have experienced help to guide you.

I have a buddy that may be willing to help. I swear, sometimes I just want to set this truck on fire...

Rear end bearings in these trucks are known to be something of a weak link, especially if they're old and/or neglected.

I bought this truck with about 180k on it, so at this point, I'm just trying to get it to hold together. I know the next thing will be the front end. Bushings and ball joints are pretty worn. I'm just getting really tired of working on the old girl... But those are the breaksas they say.

At this point, it sounds like you can get away with replacing the bearings and seals. Gear damage is pretty rare with just a simple bearing failure.
