Need backspacing help asap!!
 
Ok 2007 ram 1500 2wd 17 stock rims, 285/70 17s on right now can I run a 17inch 6.5 back spaced rim?? it looks like the stock configuration is 5.5 back space. If not if I lift it can I run them?:inv:

well I measured my stock rim and it looks like 5.5 inches it looks like I have .75 of a inch before my tire will hit the upper arm. So can I lift the front end a couple inches so the tire will fit without hitting the upper? Really dont want to use a wheel spacer but these rims are sickkk.

For every quarter inch increase in backspace, your wheel moves in 6mm. Therefore, moving from 5.5" backspace to 6.5" backspace reduces the space between the inside of your tire and the control arms by an inch..Thats a lot to reduce the inside by..

You can do a level and gain some clearance, because the tire will turn to the inside and not contact with the control arms at the same height anymore. But You're moving the wheel and tire in and that alone will look weird on the truck. Let alone how adverse it will affect the handling to narrow your track by two inches total..

I wouldn't go that way. I'd go less back spacing.
