Chrome Bodyside Moldings

Has anyone ordered Chrome Bodyside Moldings with their new Ram? Are you happy with them and would you do it again?

I will be ordering a SLT in Copperhead Pearl.

Thank you!

Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the chrome on the 2013, but (depending on the trim level) I think the "chrome bodyside molding" is a little too much. I ordered a Big Horn in the same color as you (Copperhead Pearl) and I think there is just the right amount of chrome on the truck, as is, with the door handles, bumper, and grill. Before I ordered my truck, I built a simple 2013 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab on ramtrucks.com with the "Copperhead Pearl" exterior color. I expanded the search results to the maximum mile radius allowed and then looked at all the "real" pics of the trucks on other dealers lots. I saw a few with the "chrome bodyside molding" and didn't care for the look. It was at that point I knew I wasn't going to order my truck with that option.

I ordered some side molding for my 2010 Sports but I got the ones that were color coded to match the truck paint. I'm very happy with mine and you can't even notice them unless you look closely.

Are you talking about the chrome side moldings that help protect the doors from dumb a$$ who don't give a flying f*ck about denting other peoples doors?

Hey Pull Ya, you got yours color coded? Where you get them done?

Colour match ones-yes.

Chrome ones... Noooo. These trucks come with plenty of chrome.. I personally find the chrome ones to come out looking cheap and cheesy.

While I don't share the same opinions of others I respect their's.

I personally like the chrome ones that come from the factory and have them on my 09. In this picture my truck looks a lot brighter than it normally does. It is Sunburst Pearl Orange which is a shade lighter than copperhead pearl.

Of course I have other things to set off so much chrome like a painted fiberglass cover and painted vent visors. To each his own.

Edit: Found more. Yes my truck is an 09 just made it to look like a 2013.

You had a really good idea and I did the same thing. I did a search on the Ram Truck website for Copperhead colored vehicles on dealers lots and looked at a lot of pictures. I came to the conclusion that the chrome bodyside moldings are not really necessary (and may actually detract from the appearance), especially with the chrome wheel to wheel side step option.

Now body colored moldings might make sense from a protection stand point. But I'm not sure where to get them and they certainly are not a factory option.

Thanks for the suggestions and input of all!

Wow, that is a really nice looking truck. I guess it is a matter of personal preference on the chrome bodyside moldings. I flip-flopped on the decision more then once but have decided to place the order without the moldings.

But I have a question. What were the steps you took to make it look like a 2013? It is beautiful!

Those are actually the 09-12 steps. I am in the process of getting the 13 wheel to wheel steps that look to fit the older models as well...

My truck came with the chrome door strips. I thought it made the side of the truck look too busy. I removed them.
