Need Rear diff info

Just did a rear diff service on my truck. I saw a piece of metal in the old oil. After seaching I found out its called a keeper. One of them is broken. The question is what problems will it or can it cause? And Do you have to rebuild the whole diff to fix it? Have had no problems, the limited slip still seems to work and I have no noises.

I believe what you have is a limited slip rear end, that's 1 of 4 keepers you have that keeps the little clutch plates stationary, if that fell out I think you have a very big problem in the near future if not fixed soon. The clutch plates/disks (whatever they are called) have ears that sit in the grooves of the keepers to hold then stationary so either the ears bent on those plates or something of a bigger issue happened for that keeper to fall out, if all of them hasn't fallen out already?

Thanks Mike, I am trying to find someone who to look at it. To decide if it can be fixed or needs to be rebuilt
