2012 Chrome Clad Rim Repair
Well I curbed my rear passenger tire this weekend trying to go around a tight corner at a drive through (and forgot to use my blind spot mirror). There is a bit of damage to the raised white lettering of the tire, so I am going to replace it (yes, I am that OCD but I believe about learning from your mistakes with your wallet) as it will get worse every time I clean it.
The tires I have on there now are Goodyear Wrangler Silentarmour, that have a rim guard (the tire ribber is raised in the middle to protect the rim). Anyways, upon further inspection, there is no rim damage. However, I did notice two chips on the aluminum portion of the rim, which may be related to when I curbed it shortly after I got the truck, when an oncoming car cut me off while I was mid turn in a parking lot and I had to turn sharply.
Here is what the chips look like:
I know they are minor, but I figure that now would be a good time to get it fixed. Would this be something that a rim repair company to fix (as it is on the aluminum portion of the rim) or am I looking at a new rim? Prior to the pictures, I had to scrub the chip a fair amount as it looks like they are oxidizing.
The company I work for has guys thatnfix painted aluminum wheel. As long as its on the aluminum any wheel repair place shoild be able to fix it. Or just find a place with a take off wheel that will separate them
