V6 Pentastar Engine

Has anyone heard any rumors or facts about whether the V6 will be available in the Laramie for 2014? Or in any other models other than the SLT and lower?

Thanks!

I saw a 2013 pentastar bighorn 4x4 mostly loaded except for air ride. If it had of had air ride I would have bought it. So yes, they are making them at least up to big horn and outdoorsman but I think they only made one or two and probably don't intend on making any more. I have looked all over usa to find one.

Checked with my dealer this week. Like the 2013s, no V6 on the Laramie. I am beginning to wonder if the small, incremental improvement in mileage is even worth it.

It was my plan to buy a Laramie with the V6 last year but it was not available, as you know. Plan B was to then buy a SLT with the V6 but I really was not too happy about doing that because it did not have some of the features I really wanted. Then when they made the 8 sp tranny available with the Hemi and the MPG (city) went from 13 to 15 and the V6 was only rated at 17, I ordered a Laramie Longhorn. For the 2 MPG difference it was worth it to me to get the truck I wanted. I am very, very happy with the decision I made. The Laramie Longhorn with the Hemi is an awesome truck and I am getting about 15.8 MPG in city driving and about 20.7 on the highway.

Big Horn

Ramaries- To your comment about only 2 being built, it seems odd that the Big Horn 22G package states on line 1- 20" chrome clad wheels yet most of the trucks with this have 17" wheels. I still wonder if there was some shortage causing the SLTs to get 17s. My dealer said it was not possible to get 20"s. Since then, I have seen 2. One on here and one at Klaben Chrysler in Kent, OH. This is worse than Bigfoot. What gives? So I know exactly what I want but don't know what I will get after I order (Big Horn 22G with 20" chrome class).

I know the bighorn/Lonestar has 17" wheels as a -$500 option but I thought that the Hemi came standard on them and the Pentastar was unavailable. FWIW I have never seen a bighorn/Lonestar without 20's and a Hemi

My local dealership in Gwinnett - GA has had a few SLT Bighorns with the V6 and 20's. They have one silver one on the lot and recently sold one in the deep cherry that I test drove and was on the fence about. FWIW it also has the the 8.4. I would post a link, but I am new here and not sure if linking specific dealerships is frowned upon or not.
I was also hoping to see if the Laramie would offer a V6 to get the leather seats.

Did you go with the 3.92 or 3.21 ?

Powerwagon 46 08-06-2013 04:35 PM

Neither. I got the 3.55. I'm kind of a middle of the road kind of guy :smiley_thumbs_up: !

funny, if 3.73 was available that would be my choice. also middle of the road ratio.
