Getting 12588 mag

Getting a 12588 and just changing muffler only. Hope it is what I want.
Don't want it really loud, just a good mellow tone and no drone. Taking a chance and hope what I have read on here is good.

Jim,

Good choice! I'll be going with the same. Here's a sound sample for ya that I found on youtube. Seems like the perfect mix of a bit more roar with no groan :)

That sounds great!! That is an 18" and what I got coming is the 22"

Great choice!!!!!! I’m always preaching this muffler when ever anyone will listen, it’s is the perfect balance. There is zero drone on the highway and you have a very muscular, deep sounding exhaust tone rumbling out of the rear.

My recommendation… Delete the resonators and get new tailpipes made up with some nice tips. If you do that you’ll be replicating the Magnaflow Cat-back but for ˝ the price.

I deleted the resonators on my truck and I couldn’t be happier! Despite what most people think you will not induce any drone with this setup. Instead you will get a much more defined sound out of the exhaust as all 8 cylinders fire instead of a constant muffled sound.

If you’re getting your local shop to weld it in for you… ask them about making you new tail pipes at the same time and if you can swing it, go for it! You’ll be happy you did.

Great Mod!

Got it done and..... love the low throaty sound . Perfect at idle (quiet) and produces the sound I want when driving.

Left everything stock except muffler.

You guys gave the correct info on the 22"....PERFECT for me!!!!

Can't do a utube ...don't know how

I'm Happy you like it!

like I said, if you want a deeper sound all you have to do is ditch the resonators and there will still be zero drone.

Enjoy!

It gets deeper without the resonators? I figured it would sound more aggressive, but not deeper. I can't listen to the youtube clip, stupid firewalls at work.

I did the same muffler but SI/SO and i've been thoroughly impressed! Plus my wife didn't notice the change in sound since I drive respectfully with her in the truck. Happy wife, happy life.

Yes, It actually does have a deeper tone to it with a little more volume. It's hard to describe but the sound from the motor inst muffled by the resonators and you have a more defined and deeper "wop wop wop" sound from the motor.

The best way to hear it is to hack the the firewall at work (J/K) so you can youtube the Magnaflow Catback but even then it doesn't do it justice... But it sure is a great way to kill time ;)

Hack the firewall... lol, Then you would see my truck in the For Sale section with me crying like a baby when they fire me. I'll check it out on one of my (2) home computers.. Just have to get a spatula and pry the wife and kids off them.
