2013 Get the $%$ outa Dodge

So after deciding to pull the trigger on my first "New Vehicle" purchase at the age of 32, I chose a beautiful 2013 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew 4x4 5.7L. My Dad has a 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 Crew Sport 5.7L I borrowed for a trip to Destin Fl that helped to convince me to buy the truck. I've always had used GMCs in the past.

Here's my RAM experience so far:

Truck 1: Picked up New truck Tuesday evening with 160 mi on odometer (they had to drive it from other dealer in Louisian to get the options i wanted). Power steering failed while driving that evening and then again next day (Wednesday) from work to dealership in 5 o'clock traffic. Power steering would work again after turning truck off then on again.

Truck 2: (Wednesday) Dealer gave me loaner Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie quad with 350 mi on Odom. Check engine light came on next day (Thursday) driving home from work I returned to dealership. Still haven't fixed my truck because they couldn't replicate issue but had "put a claim in to Dodge Engineers". Dealer gave me new loan.

Truck 3: 2013 Base mode 4x2 quad cab tradesman (25 miles on odometer). Drove home from dealer Thursday evening and got out of truck... radio stayed on with key out of ignition and doors would not lock unlock with key fob or door buttons.

Truck 4: Brought Truck 3 back to dealer on Friday morning. Still haven't fixed my truck (I even forgot for a moment what the issue was with one I actually bought). They give me 3rd loaner: 2013 Ram 1500 4x2 Sport quad cab with 20 miles on odometer.

I guess I learned my lesson about buying new and taking a loan on a vehicle. I Should've bought a used for cash and been happy.

It's a good thing I didn't trade in my old truck. May need it!

Can't help but just laugh and at this point the phrase .."Get the Hell outa Dodge" has a whole new meaning to me. Good luck to my fellow 2013 dodge ram purchasers!

Look UP, see that black cloud? Has it been there everywhere you go?

That's crappy luck and I'd stay out of casino's for a while!

Hope the one you bought doesn't give you any more troubles, seems isolated. Good thing for the warranty I suppose, which you might not have had buying used outside of warranty period/miles.

No black could and I don't do casinos! It seems like all the issues with these trucks are computer related. The central brain unit.... ain't so smart! I forgot to mention the Laramie Longhorn they had sitting on the showroom floor that wouldn't turn on to demonstrate the radio i was getting in my truck. The salesman said it messed up after they "flashed the computer with an update". That's 5 brand new trucks with issues. And this is a large reputable dealership with 150+ trucks on the lot. Should've been my first clue to run.

There are lemons out there. Had my 13 since January and absolutely 0 issues. May be luck of the draw. It's not brand specific. My buddy brought over his brand new Chevy pick up a few weeks ago to show me. He shut it off in the driveway and it never turned back on, had to have it towed back to the Chevy dealer. Hope you have better luck with the next purchase.

My 08 went back under the lemn law and I got a 2010 for $604 after 22k miles. Keep you service records. I had the option for a new truk or cash

My 2013 1500 Crew Lone Star has 3,150 miles in one month. Lot's of time on the road and only 1 minor issue here. Digital display on the dash went black. Turned the truck off and then back on. It re-lit and hasn't happened since. I love this truck!

Sorry to hear man, i feel your pain. Right off the showroom my truck had the radio issues and dash lights stayed on, but theres no current fix to that they said, and told me that they're working on releasing an update to fix it. At 500 miles something with the intake broke that tied it up for 2 days, and at 1000 miles they're pulling the heads off because something happened with cylinder #8 and the truck wouldnt hold an idle or anything. No clue when I'll have the truck back. Honestly after that string of shit and with the low miles on your truck I'd just request a 100% refund, make them buy the truck back for full price.

WOW sorry to hear that your having these issues....Touch wood I haven't run across anything like this yet.....Please keep us updated on how things turn out with your truck.....

Yeah Wow again! 4 trucks in a row with issues? What are the odds on that? This is my first Ram (Dodge) and I'd sworn off US made vehicles since my 95 Found on Road Dead experience from HELL...So I sure hope what you experienced is just the bummest of luck...and that it gets better from here...hell, it has to!
