01 Ram Starting issue
I have a 2001 Ram 1500 5.9l that acts like an old carb'd car with a bad choke. It is totally random also.
It will fire right up and run fine sometimes, other times I will have to feather the throttle till it finally will idle on its own in a couple minutes.
Either way it starts, it always runs great after it idles on its own.
Fuel pressure keys on at 48 to 50 psi and runs at 48 to 49 psi .
I have put new plugs wires, cap rotor, new tps, no Vacuum leaks.
I looked down the throttle body no pooled oil, Dirty but no pooled oil.
I am at my wits end with this. Oh temperature outside does not play a factor in whether or not it starts correctly or not.
I appreciate all the help / advice I can get.
First thing I'd check is the IAC at the back of the TB. They cost around $40 new and if it hasn't been replaced, it couldn't hurt.
Thanks for that warlock III,
I'll get one and put it on. I'll give it a couple days and see if
it eliminates the random problem and I'll post back.
well I put a new IAC on Saturday and so far so good.
Kind of weird to me it did not throw a code for that.
Too random of an issue I guess.
Thanks again for the help.
