Installed bully dog tuner but might have messed up?

I did all the steps it said to do with the computer with updating everything but everything was already up to date. Then i went to my truck and connected everything and followed the steps in the instructions. Then the screen came up with rev limiter and also the tire size. Rev limiter came up as 4000 rpms for nuetral and the tire size came up as 23. Options for that were 23-44 but i left it at what it said 23? I think that's where I messed up but when i drove the truck after everything seemed fine. Is there anyway i can fix that if i did do it wrong without doing the whole install over again? Also i have the 4.7l

Well your tire size is for sure not 23, take a tape measure and measure the bottom to top and input the correct size. With your tune reading a 23" tire your speedo and shift points are going to be way off.

So what do i do now? How do i uninstall it? When i reinstall the tune do i have to do update gt software twice again or no? Do i just do install download?

Well what I have just found out Is that the Bully Dog doesn't change the tire size on the 4.7's. so really it didn't change anything for you. I'm going to contact BD tomorrow to try and get mine updated.

To change it you go to the install download and then modify your vehicles tuning. It will come up in there. You will have to go through the whole key on key off process again though.

So as of right now ill be fine until i get my lift installed with new tires and rims?

brandonjansen 05-08-2013 12:27 PM

Yup, exactly. But if I were you I'd get it updated sooner rather than later. That way when you install the lift and wheels/tires you're ready to just re-tune it for the bigger size and then drive it.

I'll let you know how I make out with everything. I'm hoping to give them a call later this morning/early afternoon depending on my work schedule.

What do you mean i should get mine updated? I already have it installed but messed up on the tire size. If i already have the tune installed i do install again and go through it all? Will it come up with stock, regular and premium then continue after that?

Yes, you have it installed, but like I said the Bully Dog does not actually change the tire size correctly. When I entered my tire size in as 35's my speedo was still out by 8-9%. I've heard that there were issues with the tire size change not working and that Bully Dog has to remotely access your computer to install new updated files into the tuner. I will be contact Bully Dog about this ASAP to try and get mine resolved.

Even if you go in and change your tire size in the tuner it won't change your speedo or odometer. That setting is essentially useless to you at the moment.

So i shouldn't even bother with it then as of right now? I should contact them after i get my lift installed? Will you let me know what they say?
