blown motor. New opportunity
Hello looking for some opinions …I have a 2000 dodge 3500 dually with a blown motor (5.9 24 valve) after 245,000. So now I am in the searching process for a new engine. As I understand it does not have to be a exact in the year? So if so which year would I be getting the best bang for the amount of money this is going to cost(still better then a truck payment). The only compliant I had with previous engine was the noise. I know that may sound weird, I just thought the cab noise was louder then I would have liked. Thanks for any advise, by the way I am a masonry contractor so the truck is used to pull heavy trailers, skid steers and our family camper.

Here's an idea for you, come to Maine or another salt belt state, find a Cummins Ram with a rusted body or frame. A friend of mine just bought a 2001 Laramie 4x4 extra cab Ram with only 140,000 miles, but quite a bit of rust, for $4,500. Runs, drives perfect, perfect leather interior. Or find a rolled one and pull out the motor. I guess newer wreck would be better, but it's pretty easy to get more power from a Cummins.
