3.21 axle gear swap?

My Outdoorsman 4x2 Hemi CC with the 6.4 box was finally delivered yesterday to the dealership. I haven't seen it yet as I don't plan on taking delivery as is (I ordered the 3.55). As described in another thread, I have a few options from the dealer but not very good ones. Has anyone in this situation approached the dealership to swap the gears out for 3.55? Transmission/gear shops can do it for $400. but don't have access to the 3.55 gears. I would definitely want to keep the factory warranty. On a side note, I was unable to order the anti-slip and will not be able to if I reorder!

If it does not come with 3.55 don't accept delivery, or bargain extended warranty.
If you touch that truck you will loose warranty!

If it was factory ordered by you, i would want what i ordered
Politely ask the dealership to correct it
the rear end differentials are a ZF design & i believe they started installing the ZF differentials in the Rams in the 2011 models

you could also ask them to install the LSD at the same time, likely they would install it, but you may have to buy the part

Good Luck

So I'm guessing you've confirmed it does in fact come with the 3.21?

the factory is installing the 3.21 ratio into Rams ordered with the 3.55, because the 3.55 ratio is on restriction at the current time

i think they should put the 3.92 ratio into the 2013 Ram as a replacement to the 3.55
more people order the Ram for towing recreational vehicles around
not as a highway grocery getter

How long has this been going on? Is it currently happening? I ordered the 3.55 on March 15th. My order sheet showed 3.55. My VOTS showed 3.55. My build sheet shows 3.55. My window sticker shows 3.55. My truck was built May 3rd. What are the odds I receive my truck with the 3.55 ratio? :4-dontknow:

Your odds are good for 3.55 but I would confirm with the axle label.. My build sheet showed 3.21. That's when I caught the switch.

The factory has offered extended warranty but that won't cut it. Am hoping there's someone out there who has successfully swapped out the gears at the dealership on Dodge's tab.

They started taking orders again for the 3.55 last week. I agree with you, the 3.92 would have been a better option. I would have accepted delivery on that one.

I am currently trying to find a person that ordered 3.55 gears but received 3.21 gears (effectively reducing your towing capacity by around 2,000 pounds) that lives in Missouri. I need someone willing to be a class representative in a class-action lawsuit to get this matter resolved. I have this problem with my truck, but obviously cannot be the attorney that files the lawsuit AND the class representative. Send me a private message with your phone number if you meet the criteria and are willing to answer interrogatories and do a deposition on the matter. The class representative generally receives compensation greater than the rest of the claimants for their time and energy spent in serving.
