Plasti Dip

Plasti Dip'd my chrome gas cover tonight, 1st coat went on and dried very smooth, second came out a bit gritty, think a bit thicker of a second coat would have solved that. But still very happy with my first plasti dip experience.

the trick is making your first coat very light and only spraying when its warm out. I even let my cans sit in the sun to warm up a little and the rest of the coats will come out smooth

great info, thanks! I think my emblems are next for me, so I'm gonna try the lighter first coat on them defiantly.

no problem. I love plasti dip personally. ive dipped both bumpers, nerf bars, rims, gas cap, brake lights, and emblems. I like the black accents on a white paint job. the emblems can be pretty tough...sometimes pulling the dip from the inside of the closed letters can be tough without peeling some off. if that does happen I just spray a little puddle onto a piece of cardboard and use a fine paint brush to do the minor touch ups

once you start you wont stop, you will get better believe me and you will continually surprise yourself i am at the point where i have done a few of my friends and they owe me a decent sized favor now but i enjoy doing it, this is what i have currently done to my truck

also a little tid bit for posting pics here use photobucket then copy and paste their image links it is very easy and dont have to worry about image size and you can make your PB profile to private so only you can use it, it is free also

So I'm guessing it really is pretty tough stuff to be even doing bumpers. I am in love with it already, just wanna do everything lol. and thanks for the advice on posting pics, I had been wondering why mine also posted as thumbnails.

yeah i started and had same problems as you and it was a pain in the ass, the only problem i saw with it was i had the gray part of my bumper dipped and at the car wash that didnt last it doesnt connect with plastic very good but paint and chrome it will latch onto

To an extent lol. I did both my bumpers and they ended up peeling over the winter. But I've power washed my emblems and had no problems with them.

good tip if you have plastidip on your vehicle if you want it to stay avoid automatic car washes
i never had problems with it on paint and chrome in a car wash though

I like the stripe. was it difficult to get it done? ive read that you cant wait for it to dry because it will peel off the dip also. I really want to try using plasti dip to make some war paint but doubting myself a little
