2012 RES radio no Uconnect questions
I know this is my first post, been reading posts all day trying to find answers.

Have a 2012 Ram 1500 Tradesman

has a RES radio with no uconnect button, Have an RSD button there.

Want to get a back up camera and display in dash. Dealer said they couldn't do it. Another Installer said i could only get a single din radio in there. Options for back up cam went to rear view mirror. 4.3" display in rearview mirror with camera in tailgate handle $907 installed. Another mirror with license plate camera at $700. Still leaves me with stock radio but i can live with that. Any suggestions? It there a replacement radio bezel? How hard is it to DIY? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Welcome to this forumZ

there are 5 different radios that you could have bought for your Ram when it was new
All of them have the HIGH SPEED CANbus, the radios with the same code that have the LOW SPEED CANbus will NOT work in your Ram

RES 130 with no Uconnect button, this radio requires that a special external module
if you add a camera, it would be displayed in the mirror

RES 130 that has the Uconnect button, this radio requires a different external module
if you add a camera, it would be displayed in the mirror

RBZ 430 touch screen, non navigation, this radio also requires the above external module & it will work with a Stock back up camera & the image would be in the radio

RHB 430N radio touch screen with Navigation, also uses the external module, camera would display on the radio

RHR or RER have Navigation, no external module needed, camera displayed on radio

Personally i think you ought to cut your losses, the external modules can cost over $300 easily
from what you already know, the camera & mirror would cost a bunch

I would forget upgrading with a stock radio

Go to the CRUTCHFIELD website
then pick which options that your are interested in

you will see radios the read FIT & others that read MODIFIED FIT

Thanks for the info.

Saw post on another Dodge forum about an RES to RHR switch. All the double din on crutchfield are MODIFIED FIT. What i was reading is that i could switch to RHR radio and get a back up cam with lockpick and should be just plug and play.
