2013 headlight DRL

stupid question but I can't find the answer. what part of the headlight is used for the DRL? is it the LED turn signals? or is it the headlight projector dimmed?

Thanks

The LED turn signals are. For the 2013 Projector style headlights the turns signals serve as DRL, turns, and parking lights.

The non projector style either use the high beam or the low beam as the DRL.

I asked my dealer to switch the drl on when my longhorn went in for its first oil change on friday and they told me that did not know how to ( ramsey group of NJ) ,

Canadian Rams come with the DRLs turned on, not legal to run up there without them

Unfortunately Chrysler does not think we should have them South of the Border
it seems that it would be easier to give them to us also & let us turn them off if we don't want them on
Personally i must also have them on when working, according to the Law
& where i live we also have Headlight Safety Zones
I just took a small cloth & put it over the Ambient Light Sensor on the dash & keep my Light switch on AUTO

It would be an easy software upgrade. It's odd that Ram doesn't feel we need to have DRLs south of the border, but Dodge at least provided the option on my mother's 2013 Journey. She has the 8.4an radio and it is one of the settings options to enable DRL.

So it's the bright light part of the turn signal that is daytime running lights?

Arth 05-29-2013 11:50 AM

Yes I think so...I think the DRL actually ties into the turn signal part.

The turn signals are stupid bright...bright enough to be a substantial DRL.

This is where the computer would be involved... it would start flashing the turn signal when you turn it on and return it to constant when you finish the turn. When you turn on your parking lights it would cut power to the turns and power the regular parking lights. I saw one truck with the DRL enabled on my run from Florida... looked to be a Canada truck.

after all that, my truck doesn't have DRls, LOL.
