Why 5 Bolt rims?

Anyone know why Dodge is holding onto the 5 bolt? I've been hoping to find some used rims for my truck but for every set of 5x139.7 I find on Kijiji there's at least 200 6x139.7. It's getting a little frustrating.

I hear you and agree 100% but that's like asking why the hell you can't get a manual transmission on a balling Hemi truck :4-dontknow: It just crazy.

They just like the 5-bolt, it's been the Ram pattern since '97. there's been no real reason to change it since Chrysler doesn't cater to the aftermarket in any way.

Because manual transmissions are not a selling feature on trucks these days. Aside from the performance crowd, which is slim-to-none in the truck market, there's not much to be gained with a manual over an automatic. Having 1 trans also allows them to get specific EPA ratings and makes the design and manufacture a hell of a lot simpler.

1500s have 5 lugs

CDNoilRAM I get what you're saying about why they use an automatic... It's just frustrating is all.

I however wouldn't limit the market to the performance crowd. I live in northern BC and drive through mountains on a regular basis and I really hate the "dead" feeling that comes from an auto transmission. I miss the connection you get with your vehicle when you drive a manual as you shift with a load on twisty mountain roads.

I know it's all personal preference and opinion but the option would be nice.

Believe me, I'm with you on the manual as well since I work all over northern BC and Alberta typically hauling a 35ft tri-axle weighting in a 18,000lbs. But, I have a diesel to that with and having a jake-brake and an auto trans that can handle the downshifting is worth it's weight in gold when hauling long distances.

As for the 'connection', until I installed my new trans I used the auto-stick in my truck and the wife's caliber regularly. Hell, I still have my hand on the shifter but can't use auto-stick or I put the new trans into limp mode.

Can you show me a current 2500 that has 6 lug wheels?

Even the 1500 Mega Cabs had 8 lug like all other HD trucks.
