Rough Country 4 inch lift 35's Rubbing WARNING

1 Attachment(s)
I recently took my truck mudding for the first time after installing the lift and tires. Rough country claimed that the lift would clear 35's with the 4 inch lift but I guess not. The rear passenger side tire rubbed the wheel well causing some damage to the truck paint cracking and chipping and some mangled metal. I don't know what to think about it im a little pissed tho.

OUCH!

Question for you.....
What rims are you running?
Width? offset?

They do say 35's but its also relevant to the offset and rim width you are running.
But I'm sure you know this already but still curious to know

I have the kmc addicts with 4.5" offset and 20x9. The tires are 35x12.5x20.
Wonder if rough country will do anything? Probably not my own stupidity.

To me....that is what they will point out.
I hate pointing out the bad news...but that is what I believe they will tell you....
Basically your wheels are the in correct offset for their lift

Their site does say 35's but they do also say 5.5" back spacing which I believe is a +10 or there abouts.

Usually 5" backspace will be ok too. But 4.5" brings your wheels out to the point where it lines up with your fenders and does not have the ability to tuck in the wheel well

I hope there is a positive resolution to this though

You rubbed with the rear tire?? That seems really weird. I'm running 35's with a 2.5" level and 0.75" rear coil spacers with no rubbing. Especially on the rear....

He did to mudding, so prob had quite a bit of flex

brandonjansen 05-21-2013 12:31 AM

Ya but even at that, you wouldn't think it would flex THAT much. There's quite a gap there. Plus then the backspacing really has nothing to do with it, even it he did have the backspacing recommending by RCX it probably still would have happened.

There was also rubbing on the inside of the wheel well without 4.5" back spacing it would have rubbed without nearly as much travel.
