Upgraded rims with a 3.6

I got a 2 wheel drive V6 with the 8 speed. I have a 3.55 anti-slip rear and 17 inch rims and tires. I am wondering if anyone with a similar combo has upgraded to 20's or even 22's over the stock 17's and if there mpg has suffered much. I want 22's and would try and get as close to the stock 20's that are available for width and over all tire height, but I am sure there be a tad difference. Anyone have some real world feed back? I will be watching the rim/tire weight when shopping trying to keep that close too,any tips or real world stories are welcome, thanks

I have 2 08 Rams for route vehicles. They both came with 17s. Not sure what the gears are but they are 6 speed manuals. At the beginning of the year I was finding entire rim and tires set on Craigslist for considerably less than just buying new tires. Bought a set of 2012 20inch with 275/55 r20 and put them on. I have found no evidence of my gas mileage changing, nor did it seem to change my towing capability. As a matter of fact the 20s where almost exactly the same size as the 17s because of the tires profiles.

Mileage shouldn't be that bad I had 22's with a 285 width tire on my 02 Trailblazer I6 and I loss 1.5 to 2 mpg over the stock 16's it came with. You have more power and a 8 sod so as long as you get a tire that is near stock width and overall height there shouldn't be a noticeable loss.

Hi, I upgraded to the 20"s (rims and tires) from the factory. I have the V6 - 8spd - 3.55s - so far the stats are excellent, and I only expect them to get better as I break in the truck ..

What's your mpg average with the factory 20's? Just wondering so I can use the specs for height and weight while rim shopping
