'97 Intrepid V/s '00 Ram electrical set up

Prior to getting our '00 Ram Laramie, My G/f and I had a '97 Intrepid 3.3Ltr Base model (which ironically had 3.5 version parts such as the HPwr steering line)
The '97 Intrepid relied on the "brain" for almost everything, where As I look and poke around I notice more and more on Our Ram a crude sense of mechanics and electronics that greatly resemble vehicles that date prior to 1980.
I mean it has a carburetor AND Electronic fuel injection, it seems the electrical system for spark delivery to the cylinders is very reminiscent to an older motorcycle coil and point type system.
My real question I suppose is this,
As a '00 it would have rolled off the assembly line in '99.Would it be reasonable to assume that Dodge pulled out their blueprints of antiquity as a direct result of the whole "Y2K Bug" scare?:4-dontknow:
I didn't care or worry one bit ,however on the other hand I know a few people that were practically sweating bullets of the whole aspect of "all computers and electronics are subject to potentially fail" that the Media masses were slinging around.:hook2:
