4x4 Not working...

I looked for a sticky and searched but my searchfoo is really weak. Is there a thread on troubleshooting why the 4x4 will not work? I have an 01 2500 Ram with 5.9 gas and an auto trans. Thanks!!!

Well, if your light is out as well, check the vaccum lines on the front of the transmission crossmember on the drivers side, they have a union there, with a silicone tube covering the unions, easily pulled apart by snowbanks, brush, whatever. The vacuum lines may be disconnected elsewhere, if not there. Good luck!

The light is out. I will check for vacuum line leaks, the guy I got the truck from just put a new drivetrain in, it is possible he never hooked it up. I had no idea what to start looking for. Thank you Screamin!

Yep there should be a green and a red/orange vacuum line running down to the actuator on the front rear from the passenger's side of the engine. I'd start there.

Thank you Warlock! I can't wait to get some time to check now, I have a nice winch and mud tires and have been afraid to hit any trails (this beast is heavy!).

Thanks everyone! It was the vacuum line that runs up the firewall by the dipstick, I fixed it and the 4 wheel drive works great now! No light but it engages and works fine (I tested it the fun way).

Good job and great of you to reply back so ppl with similar issues can follow.

For the light, you just may have lost or its disconnected, the wire for it. No biggie as it's actually not long enough if you have 3" lift... lol

If you want to find it, then go to the front axle and you'll or find another wire with a harness plug on it that also comes from the CAD. This is where you found the vac lines. This wire gets plugged in at the bottom of radiator, passenger side.

I have more than 3" of lift so that is probably it, thank you once again Wh1t3nukle!

There is also a switch on the TFC that illuminates the light when the 4 wd is engaged on my truck. It may be unplugged or need to be adjusted.
