2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Air Bags

Is it possible to run air bags with out having to put them in the middle of the coil?

Outdoorsman2012 06-01-2013 08:57 PM

Yes, If you want the Airlift 1000's not sure. But if you get a kit like TLC they don't go inside the coils bc they are a much heavier duty bag and will not fit inside the coil. Why don't you want the bags in the coil?

I've heard about the ones that run in the coils pinching

Oh, can't say i've heard of that. I have the airlift 1000s and have been very impressed with them so far. I have hauled quite a bit of firewood with them and they carry it nicely. I do keep them at about 10 psi minimum is 5psi, which is likely to stop this pinching. I read a lot about them before buying them and i've yet to read anything bad. I air them up to 35psi when I need to do anything and then air down for factory ride. If money isn't as much of an issue the TLC setup looks to be very good and overkill from my opinion but many love it. I couldn't pass mine up since i got them for $25, had gift card.

I have the Airlift 1000 bags as well and as Outdoorsman 2012 said as long as you keep at least 5 psi in them they won't pinch. They're relatively cheap too which is nice. TLC is a great option if you want an external bag though, just more money.

Here's a thread I wrote up about my Airlift bags and towing if you're interested.
