Looking to purchase my first dodge!

I owned a 05 mazda 3 but now its time to upgrade to a truck.Here's the ad for one i found" I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4. Comes with the 5.9 liter motor and automatic transmission. Upgrades include 4" of chassis lift and 3" of body lift with 37" tires and custom 17" rims. Rims tires and lift are all brand new. Motor has less then 500 miles on it complete with a cold air intake. Also has custom stereo and new speakers. Brush guard is insane big and black. Interior and exterior or both in extremely good condition. This truck is awesome. No doubt. Rides and runs excellent. Im asking $6200.also willing to sell bumper And tires and 3" body lift separately. Will take a lower price if traded for stock bumper" Fair price? I talked to him and something had gone wrong with the valves so he did a rebuild. He has receipts of it, 3 pages worth.

It looks clean, from the pics I'm looking at. I like the look of it with the lift and badass bumper. Don't know about the price though. Not that it's too high, just not sure of the market in Vegas. First and foremost, I would take it to a mechanic and have it checked out before anything else. $6200 seems reasonable, but you should still do some research and figure out what comparable trucks are going for. If the mechanics of the truck check out and you think it's a good value, I say go for it and step in to the awesome world of Ram ownership!

Big tires. Expect the following;
A) transmission problems
B) axle problems
C) transfer case problems
D) ball joint/ tie rod problems

Keep that in mind when you're paying. Those are pretty big tires for 1/2 ton components especially if its been off roaded

yup, you need to see if the above components were upgraded.

$6200.00 seems like a lot to me for a vehicle that is 14 years old, and has quite possibly see more trails than roads?

If the truck is in excellent condition, then $6k isn't all that bad, but in fair condition it would be worth roughly $4700.00.

As others said, do your homework first before you jump.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Totally agree with you.....Did a little research and it seems that it may be priced a little high....Hey there is always room to negotiate.....Good luck.....

I'd ask about the front end, and see if it's been regeared. Also see if he's replaced the transmission. Have you seen the size of the tie rods on these trucks? The ends may go bad, but they're cheap.

I paid $7k for mine last year, but it had low miles and was in very good condition (just the back bumper has some paint missing). Mine books for over $9k.
