Am I being petty?

Am I? Tell me, I can take it. Should this be covered and replaced on a truck that has less than 700 miles?

I mean it's just a floor mat, right?

Yes you should take it back!

steveschaedel 06-03-2013 10:42 PM

Absolutely should be covered - I would take it back.

get cha some new mats under warranty from dealer then get cha some weather tech liners (especially since u live in Minnesota) and store them carpet ones somewhere till u sell the truck or nice sunny summer days that's what I did my oe carpet mats come out on day 1

Before I even read the post, let me say this... When you've put 30K+ on the table for something, there is no such thing as being petty. When you spend that much, you should expect everything to be right. OK, now I'll go read the post.

Wouldn't go to the dealership JUST for that, however, on your next trip for an LOF or another warranty item, you should definitely make them aware of it.

Considering that they charge about $80 for the mats, no, you are not being petty. That being said, I am sure any dealer would tell you that this "normal wear & tear" and not help you out on this. As stated above, those of us who reside in the Northern states are better served with something like weathertech (which I have and highly recommend) or Husky, Mopar slush mats or the like. In the Minnesota winters, you will be glad you have them and the stock mats will be a distant memory!! Good luck, my man.

Take it back.

No you're not being petty, and it's not just a floor mat, it's part of your truck. I'm taking our RAM in Saturday for the check engine light for the second time (EGR valve not working). I changed oil on the weekend and it looks like my rack and pinion is leaking so they'll have to look at that. I also rotated my tires and my spare happens to be a steel rim without chrome so they'll hear about that. Now our Ram has three chrome rims and a nice steel rim, oh did I say they don't match. How do you rotate 5 wheels when they don't match, just bend over. My bumpers chrome wheels and lug nuts are all rusting so that will be pointed out as well. I was talking to a Ram owner at the car wash in Hanover and he said he was on his 4th front bumper and 5th rear bumper and was going to get a new set of rims because they are beginning to rust. Go get a new floor mat.

I was at the dealer today for the Body Module Recall and told them about this. They ordered me new mats and they will be in next week.

Most excellent! That's taking care of the customer.
