There is none. No dipstick is present with this tranny

I used to be in the quick lube business and a lot of new cars are doing this now. I'm old school and like to check the fluid levels.

I have a 2010 liberty that does not have a dip stick in the tranny, I was able to buy one from the dealer though. There is a filler tube just like the old days, but it has a cap on it.

Does the 8 speed even have a filler tube?

i think it is "lifetime"

there is a good question, there must be some place to remove a plug or a capped tube to replenish fluid should it begin to leak

which would seem inevitable at some point down the road

Same thing on the wife's Avalon. Sealed unit. supposedly never needs changing. Have my doubts, but 170,000 miles later and so far so good! There is a trans plug (at least on hers) that you can pop open to check the fluid. I have to say - it's darker than it used to be, but still pretty darn good looking yet.

Considering that most people will probably sell off a (new) vehicle by the time it hits 150k miles. the "lifetime" claim hold valid - at least for that owner.

Then again - when the trans fails - that was it's "lifetime" anyway - so I guess their claim holds true!!

Since I'm still waiting for my truck, can anyone tell me if the 8 speed tranny has a filler tube with a cap on it, or is the filler tube non existent?

It does not. The filler tube is non existant. One fewer item to worry about since you can do nothing about it.
