door lock actuator

Hi,

D/S rear door lock is weak and not always locking or unlocking the door with the Fob or the buttons on the driver door. It's not a battery issue, and it's only happening with one door. The boot housing the wires appears to be ok and not pinched. There's nothing binding the mechanism that I can see or feel, pushing and pulling on the door lock knob seems smooth.

My gut is telling me it's the door actuator on the way out.

A few questions:
1. does it sound reasonable?
2. I bought the lifetime bumper to bumper at the dealer when I got the truck new. I think this is covered, which begs the question: why am I messing with it myself? I guess I'm just inclined to take a look myself. I believe this would be covered, but wanted to confirm if anyone has had problems with this sort of repair at the dealer?

Thanks.

Your assumption is correct. At about 50k miles my Passenger rear door actuator went out. I had a warranty at the time and had the dodge dealer replace it without issue.

I was having the exact same symptoms you are.

Hi
Thanks. Always good to get feedback.

I wonder if the dealer has it in stock. It seems that nothing is ever in stock at the dealer , no matter how common you think it is.

They had to order one for mine. Took about a week to get in and about an hour for the job.
